According to the finding of the Cares.com 2020 Estate Planning and Wills Study and survey of over 2,000 Americans:
- Estate Planning is becoming less prevalent overall than in prior years;
- Older adults are less likely to have a will; and
- A growing number of people say they lack knowledge and resources to get a will or an estate plan
The surveys findings concluded that while the majority of people believe estate planning is important, the comparatively low number of people who actually have documents in place indicates a lack of education and familiarity with the process.
